VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
 
The Wm. Penn Fire Company is comprised of 45 firefighters. Wm. Penn Fire Company operates 8 pieces of apparatus providing fire and rescue emergency services to our citizens and visitors alike. We have 2 fire stations and cover an area of over 5 square miles.
 
Through the years he Wm. Penn Fire Company has assumed a higher level of service to the citizens than ever before.  Some of the services currently being provided, besides the expected control of fires, include Quick Response Service, Ice Rescue, and a host of other emergency and fire prevention services.
 
Through a visionary administration and a skilled and dedicated workforce, the Wm.Penn Fire Company  has become one of the most efficient and respected in America. We hope you will consider joining our team and help us continue the tradition.
 
For information regarding current volunteer opportunities in the Fire Department, please contact the Wm. Penn Fire Company at joinwmpenn@wmpennfire.com or at 215-752-7740, stop by our stations for fill out our application (please fill 3 copies)and drop it off at the firehouse.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
In order to be accepted into an entry level position with the Wm. Penn Fire Company applicants must meet specific criteria. The minimum standards required of any applicant for firefighter include:
        
   Age -15 years and older.
*       Criminal History - No felony conviction of any kind. Applicants must provide a Pa State background check paid for by the applicant. Applicants must also provide a child abuse form( when filling out the form check the school box)
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE APPLICATION IS RECEIVED.
Applicants will be contacted to arrange a date for an interview with 2 members of the Membership committee. Member’s applications are then read at the company meeting, and voted on. If a member is accepted, you will be contacted by the fire company on there status into the fire company
 
WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM ACCEPTED:
 
Equipment- Members will be given personnel protective equipment. Members will not however receive any type of Key, or alerting device until the members complete the required in house training program.
*       Training- Applicants for the firefighter position that have been accepted by the fire company must complete firefighter 1 with in a year of being a member. New applicants who have been accepted must also under go an in house training program before they are able to ride the fire apparatus. Applicants who are accepted are also required to complete a minimum of 24 hours of Monday night company training a year (high school students are exempt).
